The Brain That Does The Work Does The Learning!!!
Simple Instructional Practices That You Can Easily Incorporate into ALL Lessons...
1. The 5-1 Rule: For every 5 minutes of teacher talk, there needs to be one minute of student talk
2. We should ask at least one question every 3-5 minutes
3. Random questioning, cold calling, on-the-hook questioning
4. Modeling your thinking and leading students to the thoughts/answers/big ideas-
Be careful not to do the thinking for them!
5. "The brain that does the work does the learning"!!! Small chunks of instruction, ask questions, lead students to finding the answers, move around the room, use frequent checks for understanding!
