Edition 17 Week of 12/117
From the Desk of Ms. Hicks
Winter is Coming
We would like all families to be prepared in case of inclement weather. We have attached a one page student checklist to help guide you if we were to close due to weather or any other unforeseen event. This one pager is a simple step-by-step guide for asynchronous and synchronous options with the altered schedule linked as well. Please review this with your student now and contact the school if you have any questions.

News from The Bates PTA
Bates-mas
It is time for the 12 Days of Bates-mas again! For the 12 days leading up to winter break, we celebrate our teachers with daily gift drawings. We are asking our families to donate a gift card, gift certificate (do you own a business or is there a local business you'd like to ask for a donation?), or a gift basket (pick a fun theme like gardening or baking!) that we will raffle off to our amazing teachers and staff from December 7th through 22nd. Donations can be dropped off in the main office at any time.
We are also treating our teachers to a luncheon on Wednesday, December 20th. Can you donate some drinks? A case of bottled water, diet or regular sodas, or sparkling water?
Thank you for helping us to show our teachers and staff how much we appreciate them!
Military Bowl - December 27th
Can you spare a couple of hours on December 27th to help our PTA raise money?
Sign up here!
(Make sure you list "Bates MS" as the school you are supporting!)
As you may be aware, our PTA lost our major source of fundraising for this year, which represents a significant loss of funding for our planned PTA activities, such as our Honor Roll celebrations, the 8th grade picnic, teacher appreciation events, and support for PBIS and grade-level activities. Our friends at Germantown Elementary School (which is one of the schools that feeds into Bates) have offered to share one of their fundraisers with us: directing parking for Military Bowl on December 27, 2023, at Germantown ES, Phoenix Academy, and Studio 39.
Can you sign up for a 2-hour shift? High school and middle school students who need service hours are welcome to help direct cars. All students will receive a certificate for their hours.
Please note: We are collecting parking fees and directing vehicles. You do not need to be able to drive!!
