CHAPLAIN'S CHATTER: THOUGHTS, REFLECTIONS AND MUSINGS FROM THE CATHOLIC CHAPLAIN
This week we will celebrate two great feasts: All Saints on Sunday, November 1 and All Souls on Monday, November 2.
The Feast of All Saints is a Holy Day of the Church honoring all saints, known and unknown. All Saints is much like Veteran’s Day and President’s Day when many people are honored on one day. All Saints Day is tied to our belief in the Communion of Saints. This is the belief that all of God's people, on heaven and earth, are connected in a communion. In other words, we believe that the saints are just as alive as you and I, and constantly serve as a source of inspiration for us.
November 2 is the Commemoration of All the Faithfully Departed or more commonly known as All Soul's Day. All Souls is the day to remember and pray for all of our loved ones who have died. It is considered a day to remember those who have died that serve as saints in our own lives.
At our 7:00PM Mass THIS Sunday, we will remember the Saints of our church and the saints of our lives. We will also remember our loved ones who have died by lightning candles and offering special prayers of remembrance.
Peace,
~ Jamie
