School Closures due to the Coronavirus - Update March 20, 2020

We recognize that this is a challenging and unprecedented time with changes occurring on a daily basis. The health and safety of our community and families remain at the center of our decision-making.

As many of you are aware, the Monterey County Department of Public Health has issued a Shelter in Place that began at 12:01 a.m., March 18th and will continue to be in effect until 11:59 p.m. on April 7, 2020.

Soledad Unified School District Schools remain closed to students and non-essential employees through April 8, 2020. Extending school closures beyond this date will be reassessed based on regional /local COVID-19 activity and guidance from the Monterey County Department of Public Health and the California Department of Education. We will continue to communicate any changes as they occur.

As a district, we continue to deep clean all classrooms across the district. We are also continuing our meal service daily from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at all of our schools. School sites are preparing distance learning / learning packets for students at all grade levels, including Special Education students. School Principals will provide more information regarding Distance Learning / Learning Packets on Monday afternoon, March 23, 2020.

Beginning next week, office hours at our school sites will be Monday-Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and regular office hours on Thursday & Fridays from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. In order to support social distancing, we ask that if at all possible, communication to the school sites be either by telephone or email in order to minimize personal contact.

We have provided parent resources on our website at: www.soledadusd.org which include online resources for different subject areas as well as mental health resources and activities. For community resources, I encourage you to use the www.211.org website for Monterey County. This website provides information regarding a variety of local resources for families.

I want to thank the entire staff at the district for all their work and putting in place safety measures and developing the learning opportunities that will be shared with our students beginning the end of next week. A reminder that Monday, March 30, 2020 is a District Holiday and all school offices and the district office will be closed.

Thank you for your continued support.
