Feedback from Health & Safety Review
Last week, Crown preschool classrooms had a Health and Safety review. I would like to share some reminders from the review as they are best practices for all our classrooms:
- Family style eating was not observed! Most adults were seen serving our students. Please teach and encourage our students to pass around the tray of food (unless it is a hot tray) so children learn the independent skills of serving themselves.
- Once you sanitize the tables or sinks, adults must wash their hands immediately after.
- Purell sanitation has a 30 second "leave on the table" for proper sanitation.
- Sinks require a 5 minute "leave on" for proper disinfecting.
- Children must wash their hands BEFORE and AFTER messy play. This includes when children play with play dough, sand, and water.
- Children must wash their hands for a period of 20 seconds (and each sink must have a visual poster of the hand washing proper procedures.)
- Directions to the school site posted by classroom phone for emergencies.
- Objects should not be placed above cabinets for earthquake safety, as well as cabinets taller than 4 feet must be bolted to the walls.
Let me know if you have any questions. Have a super week! Ms. Lisa

Circle Time/Large Groups
Every day our students join us at circle time/large group to hear the daily message(s) from the teacher. As a reminder, there should ALWAYS be at least one assistant on the carpet when the teacher starts the group. It is often observed both classroom assistants are cleaning up or prepping for the next activity. One assistant may take on this responsibility, but please not both. Communicate with each other so one assistant helps with the daily tasks and the other remains on the carpet with the teacher and students, ALWAYS. As a classroom teacher, leading a large group with can be challenging when one student becomes disruptive therefore, having assistant support during circle time is essential! And please keep voices down once the teacher begins classroom instruction.
Thank you for your support!
Staff Attendance & The Importance of Continuity
Dear Staff: As the cold season is upon us, make sure you take your daily vitamins and getting plenty of rest! Continuity in preschool is vital! THANK YOU to all of our staff for coming to work each and every day!! When anyone is absent from our team, it makes for a more challenging day for us all in many ways including susceptibility to child injuries and potential citations from licensing.
