CARPOOL for Parents
Please stagger your arrivals, 3:05, 3:15, and 3:30.
IF you want your child to walk or take daycare, please fill out the google form so we have the documentation. Passes are organized and delivered in the afternoon. https://forms.gle/rHH9Cc5Uo7Kj51Yo6
DO NOT park/leave your car along the North side of Cilma Dr. It blocks the carpool line, and stops the flow of traffic.
DO NOT create a middle lane on Cilma Dr.
IF your child is a walker, and you are parking please park on the SOUTH side of Cilma Dr facing East.
When you pull into the parking lot, please fill up the 4 stacking lanes, we will take turns inputting your carpool number by going back and forth throughout the lanes.
We use an App to enter your carpool number, which then signals to the classroom to send your students down. Please help us with the flow by having your carpool number ready in your window or hanging from your mirror. If you could also write over your number using a thick marker, that helps us see the number from further away.
Please DO NOT tell your children to pick up siblings from their classroom, they will each be signaled to come to the same cone, and will meet you together outside.
COVID INFORMATION
If you need to take your student/family to get tested, we wanted to make you aware of some free testing sites below.
https://slco.org/health/COVID-19/testing/
https://coronavirus.utah.gov/education/
We would like to verify some confusion about the Health Department’s recommendations for quarantine.
To determine when your student should be quarantined will depend on two factors:
1. When did your student start showing symptoms, which then we look at 2 days prior to symptom onset.
2. If your student is asymptomatic then we look at the positive test date.
This year Ascent West Valley has decided to not use seating charts, which means students will be considered mingling with everyone, which would mean if a student is exposed or tests positive, the entire class would be exposed.
There have been questions around the different types of quarantine. Those are listed below:
Home Exposure: Someone at home (other than your student)
- Quarantine at home for 10 days starting on the last day of contact with the positive person.
- If they are not able to isolate from the positive person, the 10 days starts when the positive person’s 10 day isolation period is over.
Community Exposure:
- Quarantine at home for 10 days starting on last day of exposure to positive person.
- Option to test out of quarantine early on day 7, with a negative test.
School Exposure:
- Option to quarantine at home for 10 days or wear a mask to school for 10 days starting on last day of exposure to the positive person.
- Option to test out on day 7 with a negative test and either return to school or stop wearing a mask.
Also, a note about masks. If the person who tested positive was wearing a mask as well as the person exposed, the exposed person does not need to quarantine.

Free & Reduced Lunch Application
It’s been wonderful to see your children on campus and work with them in-person this school year. We are also grateful for the lunch program we have at our school and the fact that breakfast and lunch are free for all students this year. That said, we are still asking all families to complete the Free and Reduced Lunch Application. Even though breakfast and lunch are free to students this year, a chunk of the funding we get from the government is based upon how many families fill out the Free and Reduced Lunch Application and then qualify for the service. It might seem like an unnecessary step this year, but it will help Ascent capture as many education dollars as we can from the government. If you haven’t already done so, please complete the application by going to Aspire at this link:
https://ascent.usoe-dcs.org/Login.aspx
Thank you in advance. We are looking forward to a great school year together!
