News from Sanborn School
September 4, 2020
A note from Mrs. Johansen
Thanks for another great week at Sanborn! It's your lucky week because we have a special edition of the Sanborn newsletter for you to enjoy!
This edition of our newsletter includes information about the amazing Sanborn staff! You'll notice that our staff has grown as we've adapted to this virtual environment. I am so excited about the new teachers we have met and who are tirelessly planning amazing opportunities for our students. Many have been in the district for years and are coming with great energy and positivity! They fit right in with our school community!
I've enjoyed popping into class meetings each week and seeing the friendly Tiger faces. Over the past week, I met with teachers to discuss grade level instructional schedules and when they have synchronous and asynchronous activities planned. As we fall into a routine and get more comfortable in this virtual world, I'm excited to see all that we can do!
A few notes:
- Our Sanborn PTA is meeting on Tuesday, September 8th at 6:30. The meeting will be virtual. Email me at johansee@ccsd15.net for the link to get into the meeting.
- We will have Picture Day at Sanborn on September 23rd and 24th. Interstate Photos will be setting up two tents outside near the front circle drive for pictures. Parents will stay in their cars and kids will get out to get their pictures taken. Stay tuned to sign-up for a time through Sign-up Genius. Evening hours will be available on the 23rd. We will be following all social distancing rules and there will be specific directions coming out about this event shortly.
- If we have any parents who would be willing to take a shift to help with the Picture Day process, please email me. All volunteers must wear masks, self-certify, and follow social distancing rules at all times. We'd appreciate your help!
- We will have Friday Sanborn Spirit Days this year! This week (September 4th) is Pajama/Stuffed Animal Day.
- There will be a Supply Pick-up on September 14th and 15th for additional curricular materials that will available for students. We will send out a separate email about this event.
- September 18th is a professional development day for all teachers. There will be no e-learning activities for students on that day. Teachers will be learning about a new program called Go Guardian and ways to use Zoom calls to implement small group instruction with their classes.
- Sanborn still has a high number of families who have not re-registerd for the 2020-2021 school year in infinite campus. Mrs. Cox and Ms. Tafolla will be calling you soon, if you have not done this.
Have a great holiday weekend!
Fondly,
Erika Johansen
