Spanish Spelling Bee Lists and Rules
Campus-Based Spanish Spelling Bee: October 3-21 Window
- Spelling Bee Word Lists: Elementary, Middle, and High
- Window for holding campus-based Spelling Bees is October 3-21
- Campus Spelling Bees should be conducted in alignment with the Spelling Bee rules and with sufficient time to submit names of Campus Spelling Bee winners by Friday, October 21, 2022.
- Names should be submitted using this form, by Monday, October 24.
The elementary district competition (3rd – 5th) will host one contestant from each elementary campus. The middle school (6th – 8th) and high school competitions (9th – 12th) will each host three contestants from each campus.
Campuses will be responsible for technology and supplies needed to participate in the event. In addition, students must abide by the rules during the contest . Our SAISD Spanish Spelling Bee competition will result in one district winner in the 3rd - 5th, 6th – 8th, and 9th – 12th categories who will represent the District at the Region 20 Spanish Spelling Bee, dated TBD.
District-Based Spanish Spelling Bee: November 15-17
The World Languages Program, in collaboration with the Dual Language, ESL, & Migrant Department, is honored to host the District Spanish Spelling Bee 2022 - 2023. The event will be held in-person at Hawthorne Academy on the following dates:
- Elementary School: Tuesday, 11/15, 8-1 p.m.
- Middle School: Wednesday, 11/16, 8-1 p.m.
- High School: Thursday, 11/17, 8-1 p.m.
The elementary district competition will host one contestant from each elementary campus. The middle school and high school competitions will each host three contestants from each campus. Campuses will be responsible for transportation to and from the competition site. In addition, students must abide by the rules during the contest.

District winners will represent San Antonio ISD at the Annual Spanish Spelling Bee hosted by Education Service Center, Region 20 on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. Here is the schedule for the day!
