Sharon Flake Author Visit
Young adult author Sharon Flake visited Albany High, Hackett Middle School and Myers Middle School in May. Students enjoyed Sharon discussing her books, her craft and the writing process. Students asked many questions about writing and Sharon's books and Sharon provided an engaging, interactive presentation www.sharongflake.com. This visit was generously funded by the Albany Fund for Education and the Touhey Family Foundation.

Young Adult Book Club Featured
A recent article in the Times Union featured the Capital Region BOCES Young Adult Book Group. The article is titled, 'A look at some of the area's best book clubs'. This book group is made up of middle and high school librarians and teachers who attend for networking and professional development. They meet monthly at one of the librarians' schools, have snacks and discuss the latest recommended reads for book advisory with kids; they throw in their favorite adult reads too. Alicia Abdul, one of our librarians at Albany HIgh has been facilitating the group for five years.
