All proposals can be submitted by choosing "Add a New Course" in mymadisonpd.org.
As a reminder, all staff members who work a 186-day year (Schedule A and Schedule D employees) will be expected to attend the full in-service day (8am-3pm) on Monday, June 22, 2015 unless they have completed six (6) or more hours through the Madison Teacher Academy between July 1, 2014 and May 31, 2015.
Spring courses will run between January 7, 2015 and May 29, 2015.
Those selected to present will be compensated for preparation and presentation time at $46.00/hour as stipulated in Part B, Article V of the Agreement. If you would prefer to receive PD credit toward the June 22, 2015 PD day rather than financial compensation, please email me to let me know at the time you make your proposal.
Click here to see a video demonstration of how to submit a course proposal on mymadisonpd.org.
If you are tying your proposal to Danielson, you should aim to directly address 1-2 components where workshop participants can expect to see tangible results due to the workshop. Staff members who have been consistently rated “highly effective” in a particular component are urged to consider sharing their expertise through this avenue.
Through the first observation window this year, the Danielson components most often cited as areas for growth were: 3B (Using Questioning and Discussion Techniques) and 1F (Designing Student Assessments). Proposals that address these areas will be given top priority.
Workshops and presenters do not have to be limited to teaching staff members. All Madison staff members are eligible to submit a proposal and workshops can target people of all roles and responsibilities including secretaries, nurses, teacher assistants, etc.
Don’t hesitate to reach out to a principal or supervisor if you have an idea and would like some assistance in developing a proposal. Answers to frequently asked questions and guidance for crafting your workshop proposal can be found by clicking here.
