Woodland Elementary Read-A-Thon
Our Read-A-Thon is well on it's way! We have over 500 students that have signed up as of today. We would LOVE to have all 900+ students to participate. You still have time to register your student and get sponsors.
PJ Day was a huge success today. Please join us in the fun for the rest of the week. The schedule is below.
Wednesday: "Read In"
Students can bring a pillow and their favorite book to read!
Thursday: “Mystery Readers"
Your child's teacher/home room parent may coordinate parents or staff to come in an read based on their schedule. This will be scheduled ahead of time and if you are scheduled to come in to read, you must have already completed the volunteer registration online prior to coming to read.
Friday: “Staff Book character day”
STAFF ONLY will dress as their favorite book character. It will be fun to see all the book characters around school and introduce some new ones to our students.
Thank you again for ALL you do to support reading, the PTA and our school! Let’s make this a fun week with an AWESOME focus on one of the most important skills…READING!!!
Money raised from the Read-a-thon will support technology needs and resources for the whole school (new laptops, iPads, accessories, etc.). A portion will also go to support hurricane relief victims!!!
Students should be recording their minutes of reading and will get money based on the number of minutes they read. Students MUST log their reading minutes (both done in and outside of school) onto the online platform.
Here are just a few of the perks of this fundraiser:
Kids focus on reading instead of selling
All the money is handled and tracked through the Read-a-thon program
Kids earn games and prizes in their very own prize center
Real time reporting allows us to see how we are doing towards our target
What you Need to do if your child has NOT set up a profile yet:
Your child brought home a personalized instruction reminder sheet explaining the fundraiser, how to activate your reader page and start fundraising.
Please let your child’s teacher know if you did not get one so you can get him/her set up.
**Students get a prize just for setting up a page.
PLEASE SIGN YOUR CHILD UP TODAY AND BEGIN GETTING SPONSORS!
We appreciate your continued support as Woodland Wildcats!

New Carpool Procedures
New Morning Carpool Procedures
**Effective Monday, October 16, 2017**
Parents/Guardians,
This school year is off to a great start! In an effort to help morning carpool move more efficiently and safely, we will be starting a new procedure in the upcoming weeks. Please take note of the procedure listed below, and view the map on the back side of this notice. We would really appreciate your help and cooperation with this new procedure!
New Carpool Procedure
2 lanes of carpool will be used.
The left lane will be for 3rd-5th grade students.
This lane will be used for students to unload in the lower parking lot.
Students will exit their vehicle toward the sidewalk, walk to the middle on the sidewalk, up the middle stairs, and a staff member will assist the students with crossing to the entrance of the school.
There will be NO PARKING in the lower lot during carpool (7:10-7:40).
The right lane will be for Pre-K-2nd grade students (or those needing assistance).
Students will exit their vehicle on the sidewalk and walk to the entrance of the school.
Both lanes of carpool should prepare to Stop/Yield while the opposite carpool lane exits.
Carpool begins at 7:10 each day.
Please have your child ready to exit the vehicle upon stopping at the Drop-off zone.
Unbuckle seatbelt quickly and have bags prepared and in-hand.
Encourage your child to open his or her own door, if possible.
Children should exit on the passenger side of the car.
Remember, there will be NO PARKING in the lower lot during carpool.
If parking is needed, the very first parking lot to the left of the entrance may be used.
After 7:40, parents will be expected to park and sign-in tardy students.
Consider allowing your child to ride the bus. Bus riders will never be considered tardy.
Students will be marked tardy if they are not in their classrooms by 7:40.
During heavy rain, the right lane may be used for all students.
We would love your help! If you are willing to volunteer for morning carpool during the week of implementation, please contact Dr. Dumas, dumash@fultonschools.org.
