Science
Students will have with them tonight their Ecosystem Test and many other graded papers. The average grade on the test for BLOCK A was a 95% and for BLOCK B it was an 86%. All in all, I was pleased with the grades! We have finished up our ecosystem unit.
We decided to delay our unit on the sun, moon, and Earth until Monday, Dec. 14th of next week. We had a 3 day Engineering Lab in which students had 100 notecards and 20 inches of tape to build a tower 20 inches tall to support the weight of a Beanie Baby. Please see the attached photo for a successful example of this project. Some students did great, and some struggled. However, students were given the chance to re-design and re-build a better structure on Friday to improve their formative grade on this LAB.
AdvMath 6th Grade (Block A)
Students will be taking the NWEA Math Test again on Monday, December 14th.
We will be having a Chapter 2 Summative Test on Wednesday of next week: December 15th. This involves multiplying and dividing fractions and mixed numbers. Students received their StudyGuides today in-class along with checking the answers from the answer key that is posted on Bb.
100 minutes of VMath is due Sunday night @ midnight. This will be entered into the gradebook as a FORMATIVE grade (10% of one's overall grade).
Regular Math BLOCK B
Students will be taking the NWEA Math Test again on Monday, December 14th.
Students took a 20 question Blackboard quiz today (Friday) of this week to evaluate fraction concept basics; this is a formative grade in the gradebook because students are still "learning". We've been working hard on equivalent fractions and simplest form. The quiz is available and visible for students/parents to see if one logs into Bb to take it again. We will be adding/subtracting fractions some next week.
100 minutes of VMath is due Sunday night @ midnight. This will be entered into the gradebook as a FORMATIVE grade (10% of one's overall grade).
