Musical Assembly
Laura B. Sprague School is delighted to share that we will be hosting acclaimed writer Cara Mentzel and Tony Award-winner Idina Menzel for an assembly on the morning of Friday, Sept. 15. Ms. Mentzel and Ms. Menzel will talk with students about their careers and discuss their new book, "Proud Mouse!" Students' families are not invited to the assembly.
Order your copy of "Proud Mouse" by visiting authors Cara Mentzel and Idina Menzel! Authors will sign orders that are purchased by Friday, Sept. 8. Orders placed Saturday, Sept. 9, or after *MAY* be signed, but this is not guaranteed. You may place an order through Friday, Sept. 22.
Families can visit the pair Friday, Sept. 15, in the evening at the the Tivoli Theatre, Downers Grove.
Communication Resources
Teacher Response: As you know, teachers primary responsibility is teaching children. Please allow them 24 hours to respond to your calls or emails.
School Office: If you need to pick up students early or drop them off later in the day, please first send a note to the child's teacher. A second option is to call the school office at 847-945-6665.
Reporting an Absence: Call 847-945-6686 or email Ls_attendance@d103.org.
Following up on Safety Procedures
The District 103 administrative staff met this week to review the phone call threat and evacuation process that took place at Daniel Wright and ways to improve procedures. Additionally, the district, police and fire departments will meet to further review the process to discuss areas of improvement.
The Lincolnshire Police Department is investigating the call that was received by the school to identify the caller. The department will update the school district on their progress as the investigation unfolds.
For safety concerns you may have, please reach out to the the school or district office. In the event of a possible threat, call the Lincolnshire Police Department’s non-emergency number at 847-883-9900. If there is an actual threat, call 911.

In our ongoing efforts to enhance your children’s safety, Sprague and Half Day Schools will begin using the Pikmykid Dismissal Application beginning Monday, Sept. 18. Pikmykid has been proven to simplify dismissal, reduce traffic congestion, and most importantly, improve overall safety.

The Power of Play - How Play Can Help Children Learn Lessons for Life
In this virtual presentation, parents will hear from Dr. Rebecca Isbell, an internationally renowned educator & speaker on how play can be utilized to help advance learning for children. We will also be joined by Ms. Ann Hofmeier, principal at Sprague School, who will reflect on how teachers at Sprague use play daily to promote educational concepts in their classrooms.

Back to School Bash Recap
On Friday, Aug. 25, Sprague School's PTO hosted it's annual Back to School Bash to kick off the new school year! Nearly 375 Sprague students and family members attended enjoying music, food, cotton candy, ice cream, and a fun evening on the playground. An officer from the Lincolnshire Police Department visited with students showing them their equipment and vehicle. New to the Bash this year, the PTO partnered with the Village of Lincolnshire to feature a screening of "The Sandlot" movie.
