Dear parent and caregivers,

This week has been a lovely, cooler week which has allowed students to spend more time outside enjoying this beautiful Autumn weather.

With the increase in positive cases, it may make your child feel worried or anxious, as it will many of us who are parents. It is important to remember that you can help your child at this time, first by listening attentively to their concerns, and then by providing some reassurance. If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s classroom teacher.

A reminder to all parents, if your child is unwell, please do not send them to school. As the peak of Covid positive cases is beginning to hit, it is vital that we all work together and keep our whole school community safe and well. Please refrain from sharing any positive Covid results via social media, as this may increase the level of anxiety, and allow the school to communicate the facts, protecting both the privacy and dignity of all concerned.

The new CEWA Self-Reporting Form for Staff and Students link is as follows and can also be found on the Schools website under Communication / Covid Updates. Or click on the button below.

Harmony Week is an important week as it celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity and how all of our differences make Australia a great place to live. To celebrate Harmony Week, the students are invited to wear traditional clothing or orange on Monday March 21 to highlight inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. I am very excited to see the many cultures that we have at St Elizabeth’s on display.

Parent/teacher interviews have been planned for Week 9 and 10 of this term. Ideally, we would have loved to have these interviews as face-to-face, however, this is not an option. All interviews will be via phone or online calls with parents able to book an interview time through PTO Online. More details to come.

Wishing you all an enjoyable weekend!

God bless

Rebecca Clarke

Principal

Feast Days

St Patrick's Day - Thursday, 17 March

Saint Patrick’s Feast Day is celebrated on the 17th of March each year. Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. Born in Roman Britain in the late 4th century, he was kidnapped at the age of 16 and taken to Ireland as a slave. He escaped but returned about 432 CE to convert the Irish to Christianity. By the time of his death on March 17, 461, he had established monasteries, churches, and schools. Many legends grew around him—for example, that he drove the snakes out of Ireland and used the shamrock to explain the Trinity.

St Joseph's Feast Day - Saturday, 19 March

Saint Joseph's Feast Day is celebrated annually on the 19th March. The Feast of Saint Joseph or the Solemnity of Saint Joseph, is in Western Christianity, the principal feast day of Saint Joseph, husband of the Virgin Mary and legal guardian of Jesus Christ. Saint Joseph is recognised by the Catholic Church as a patron saint of workers.

This weekend: collect vouchers from West Australian

The West’s STEM Classroom Cash gives all schools throughout Western Australia to earn money towards STEM resources at their school. Students, parents and other family members can collect vouchers from Saturdays West Australian on March 19, 26 & April 2. The more vouchers that we can collect for our school, the more chance we will have of winning a prize. The competition is weighted to allow for schools of all sizes to win prizes. In 2021 we were lucky enough to win a $1000 STEM voucher through the scheme. Every voucher counts!

Colgate® Community Garden Challenge 2022

Our school is taking part in the Colgate Community Garden Challenge, which will run between 24 February – 31 October. TerraCycle has partnered with Colgate and Chemist Warehouse to give seven lucky schools the chance to win a community garden kit, including upcycled garden beds, seating and more.

We will be collecting any used oral products such as toothpaste tubes and caps, manual plastic toothbrushes, electric toothbrush heads, toothbrush plastic packaging and floss containers. Any brand of oral hygiene is accepted, and our aim is to prevent these items from going to landfill. A collection box will be in the front office.

You can also vote for our school by heading to any participating Chemist Warehouse store and scanning the Shelf Garden QR code to earn bonus votes. You can vote once a day!
