A New Beginning
Capture the First Day For a Wildcat New Year By: Jacob Montes and Adayanna Burgess
The first day of school on August 9th,2017, everything changed. Everything changed because Vista Heights switched to an I.B. school candidate. In first period everyone was amazed on how there was seven periods this year, but everyone was relieved that we got out earlier. Also there were new teachers on campus like Mrs.Nunez, the spanish teacher. I think most people were excited on what this year would bring to our school. The first day of school was funny for me and my best friend but scary for others.
It's A Solar Eclipse! By: Melissa Bolanos
On August 21st, 2017 there was a solar eclipse. Some of the teachers went out with their students, some of the teachers even let their students borrow their students borrow their special Solar eclipse glasses. Other teachers put holes in paper and viewed the solar eclipse on the ground. The total solar eclipse only happens every ten to one hundred years. The eclipse happened everywhere on earth, some people had total eclipses, where the moon covers the sun completely, or where the moon covered a small percent of the sun. What happens is that the moon goes in front of the sun for about two or three minutes and it looks like a cloud is blocking the sun. If you were in a different part of the world, it went dark like if it was night time. Some students said it got colder and other students said it got dark. Anyways, that is what happened on August 21st, 2017 while we were at school.
A Night At School for Wildcats' Parents and Guardians! By: Nathan Valdepena
At back to school night, a lot of students and their parents wait till the night starts. When the night starts they’ll go to their first period. The students and parents were given a small paper showing two blanks each 7 periods. They would have the teacher sign the blank and write the room number. After first period, they would move on to their second period class. They would then have their second period teacher sign the paper. After the night they would turn in the small paper the teachers signed. When they turned in the paper, they would get a prize but that’s not the exciting part of the night, Kona Ice and other fun things were there too. Back to school night happened on August 28th. How this worked, is that there would be an announcement who would tell when it starts so he/she would say “time to move on to your second period.” How you would know to move on to your thrid period class, she/he would say “move to your third period class. We did this because we want are parents to know what we are doing in class.
