Big picture

100 Box Blowout

This year we will celebrate the 100th graduating class of Unionville High School, so it's time to celebrate and honor this milestone by living out the UCFSD mission and making a contribution to society! The 100 Box Blowout is a schoolwide service project that will start when we return from winter break. There will be 100 boxes and the goal is to fill each box with 100 items. All items will be donated to local charities. Students from the Longhorn Life Council have been coordinating with local organizations to identify essential needs. Each grade level will be responsible for filling 25 boxes. The 100 Box Blowout will provide 10,000 basic need items to the community. Please consider picking up a few items from the list below!

College and Career Readiness Standards for Juniors

In October after juniors took the PSATs, all juniors were given information about the college and career readiness standards required by the state of Pennsylvania. Students were informed that by the end of the first semester, each will need to upload 8 artifacts to demonstrate college and career readiness. All juniors received reminders throughout the semester about uploading artifacts. Additionally, the counseling department hosted sessions in the library on November 14-16 to answer any questions students had about uploading artifacts. All juniors need 8 artifacts uploaded by the end of the first semester. Students who do not have 8 artifacts uploaded by January 24 will be assigned time during lunch and learn to upload artifacts.

Please click the link below to go to the counseling page for more information regarding the college and career readiness portfolio.

The counseling department will be holding another session to support all juniors January 11, 12, and 13 during lunch and learn in the library. Please refer to the counseling department newsletter for more information about the sessions.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Maggie Hunt, assistant principal, or your student’s school counselor.

Scheduling for 23-24 School Year

I know we are not quite at the half way point of this school year, but we will begin the scheduling process for the 2023-24 school year right after midterm exams. Scheduling presentations to English classes will begin at the end of January. Please be on the lookout for more detailed information about scheduling at the start of 2023!

Monthly Safety Drills

Did you know that we are required by the state to conduct a monthly evacuation drill where we must leave the building? Each month we conduct a fire drill. We also practice lockdown and severe weather procedures multiple times throughout the year. In January, we will review safety procedures during Lunch and Learn.

We always clearly communicate to our students and staff that we are in drill mode. We appreciate our students' cooperation as we work through our emergency exercises every month!

Attendance Reminder

If your student needs to leave early:

  • a note is required
  • note must submitted prior to 9 am on day of dismissal
