Nominate a top teacher with the Jackson magazine!

We are so fortunate to have dedicated, caring and knowledgeable teachers in the Columbia School District. I am reminded daily of the valuable impact they make and the positive relationships they share with the young people in our community.

Every year The Jackson Magazine hosts a search for the Top Teachers in Jackson County. Thank you to the Hurst Foundation and the Jackson Community Foundation for sponsoring this program. The top five teachers will receive a combination of $9,000.

There are nomination forms available in each school office. You may also complete your nomination form online. The link is attached below. Columbia teachers have been honored in the past by the Jackson Magazine. We hope to continue the tradition of honoring excellent teachers. All nomination forms are due by October 26, 2018.

New York Trip

September 7, 2018

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Attached please find the sample itinerary and registration form for the 2019 trip to New York City! We will leave the school Monday, April 8th at 9:30 pm and return Friday, April 12th around 6:00 am. It is a great trip packed with things that your student will enjoy.

The cost of the trip, for quad occupancy, is $699.00 per person. Single, double, and triple occupancy are also available at a higher rate. Pricing details and the registration form are available on the second page of the packet. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Travel insurance is available for those who wish to purchase it, but it is not required. There is also a $15.00 per person tip that we will collect with the last payment for the driver and our tour guide.

To help offset the cost of the trip, we are offering a Scratch Card Fundraiser. The first 22 families that hand in their registration form(s) and deposit(s) to me will get one card for free. After that, each card costs $10.00. They need to be ordered, so I will need to know how many you would like as soon as possible. Scratch cards will earn you a minimum of $150.00 off of your trip. If you have any ideas for additional fundraisers, please let me know.

If you need financial assistance, a scholarship MAY be available for you. Please contact me for more information. I can be reached in the junior high office at 517-769-8652 or by emailing

Thank you,

Robyn Hall
