Halmstad Hawks
Message from the Principal
Happy New Year! I hope you were able to find time to rest and relax over the winter break!
As we start back to school we work to settle students into routines. Halmstad staff works diligently to support students as they navigate the school day. Things like transitioning from outside, transitioning topics, and transitioning to music, physical education and art all provide for opportunities. Parents and guardians can help by having conversations about expectations during transitions. At the elementary level it is helpful to have conversations about why manners matter during transition times.
January brings us our second bench-marking period of the school year. What this means is students will be assessed in reading and math using a few different assessments. The outcomes of the assessments are used are in combination with what goes on day to day in the classroom. The purpose is to ensure we are providing the right amount of support, challenge and enrichment for your child(ren). One way parents/guardians can support is by continuing to encourage their child(ren) to do their best. Sometimes the assessments are challenging for our students, we simply ask they try their hardest. Staff and families being on the same page with this only benefits our children.
Thank you for your time,
Jerim DesJarlais
Interim Principal
