FAC Weekly Update

August 27, 2021

Good afternoon, Fine Arts Center Family

I hope you have had a wonderful week! We are transitioning away from ice-breakers, orientations, covering class syllabi, and going over studio procedures, and are now digging into the real work. The FAC studios have a quiet intensity to them...you see students performing their first monologue of the year, making sketchbooks from scratch, learning the basic fundamentals of photography and drawing, sharing art portfolios, taking first steps on their new musical journey, and much more. There is a lot going on in the outside world, but in our studios, we are committed to providing a safe and focused environment for our students to thrive!

Here is the latest from the halls of the Fine Arts Center...

This Week's Student Leadership Lesson

"Integrity is not what we do so much as who we are. And who we are, in turn, determines what we do. Our system of values is so much a part of us that we cannot separate it from ourselves. It becomes the navigating system that guides us. It establishes priorities in our lives and judges what we will accept or reject.

Integrity binds our person together and fosters a spirit of contentment within us. It will not allow our lips to violate our hearts. When integrity is the referee, we will be consistent; our beliefs will be mirrored by our conduct. There will be no discrepancy between what we appear to be and what our family knows we are, whether in times of prosperity or adversity. It frees us to be whole persons no matter what comes our way."

John C. Maxwell - The Maxwell Daily Reader, p. 262

Students - we need your help!

Stress and anxiety are at an all-time high, and the Fine Arts Center is committed to helping our students achieve social-emotional balance and well-being. We are working to design a mindfulness program* that meets the needs of our students and therefore are asking for their input.

Students, please click on the button below to complete an anonymous survey. We will use your input to create offerings that will be of the most help to you.

*Note - this program will be optional. More information on program structure and schedule to come!

Haven't Heard Back From Us?

Recently, Greenville County Schools has adjusted SPAM filtering to resolve inconsistency issues with this safeguard. As a result, some emails from parents and/or students have inadvertently been rerouted to a "junk mail" folder. All District Employees who have greenville.k12.sc.us email addresses have been given instructions on checking their "junk mail" folder for incorrectly routed emails and moving these communications to their inbox.

If you have reached out to any of our FAC or ARMES personnel and have not received a response, the above information should explain why. If you continue to have issues in receiving a response, please call our Main Office.

Is Your Child Performing in the Community?

The FAC is happy to publicize public performances and art exhibitions that feature our students. Please email Mr. Popat with any details of current or upcoming performances so that we can get the word our to our FAC Family!
