SECD Survey NEXT WEEK!
The SECD survey will be LIVE October 21- 25th. Surveys are specific to each building.
As a reminder, the Social-Emotional Character Development survey is given annually, as a data piece for building, grade level, and district use to gauge and monitor student perception of their SEL in relation to academic engagement and relationships within the building. Please do not administer the survey prior to October 21st, to make sure all buildings complete it in the same timeframe and avoid confusion for parents. The survey is to be taken by students in grades 3-5.
Your building survey link is: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WSWQPKW
Due to the survey window being a short amount of time, it is not necessary to make sure it is completed by students who are absent. If make-ups are possible without causing interruption to instruction or learning, and can be accomplished during the week of October 21-25, students are welcome to take the survey upon their return.
Please maintain a list of students who have opted out of the survey, and provide them with an alternate activity. You do not need to turn in the lists of students who opt out. However, at the end of the week, please send Kelley a list, by grade level, of the number of students who participate in the survey. That data will be used as a reporting component for MTSS Behavior.
I sent a Skyward blast to all parents of students in grades 3-12 on October 15th that explains the SECD survey. If parents express an interest in seeing the questions students will respond to, ahead of the survey, they can review them in the 2018-2019 results, which are posted on the School Improvement component of the District website, here. Additionally, a comprehensive overview of SECD survey information can be found here: https://www.usd232.org/Page/5655 .
Thank you,
Michelle Hite

Halloween Specials' Schedule
Dear Staff,
It’s officially Fall and time to plan for all things apple, pumpkin, and…well… FOOD! We are really looking forward to Halloween, too! Albeit a day of sugar and excitement overload, it’s always a joy to see the children glow in their costumes as they anticipate the evening of trick-or-treating. The following will be our schedule for the day. Although times look a bit different, it will still be a “D” in the specials rotation. (Barring any unforeseen circumstances.) Thank you in advance for your flexibility.
- 9:00-10am: Halloween Parade, snack, and time to change
- 10:00-10:45am: 5th grade and Arnote specials
- 10:50-11:35am: 4th grade and Hammond specials
- 11:40-12:25pm: 3rd grade and Casper specials
- 1:35-2:20pm: 1st grade and Scott specials
- 2:25-3:10pm: 2nd grade and Ogden specials
As a “special” treat, the specials team will share a LIVE reading of The Day the Crayons Quit in their crayon costumes to round out the day!! We plan to feature the reading through a FaceBook Live stream from 3:20-3:35pm. If you don’t FaceBook, please plan to join another classroom to view the show. This is one you WON’T want to miss!
Wishing you a SPOOKTACULAR day,
~The Specials Team & Kelley
November 6th Late Start Preview:
Dear Staff,
Our November late start day brings a unique experience for all of our Clear Creek Eagles! Lori has worked with Sunflower House to bring FREE personal safety presentations (including “Happy Bear” for K and 1) to EVERY grade level for the first time in many years. This is extra special as each session is designed to meet the developmental needs of that particular age group. We are in for a real treat!
Here’s what you need to know for your planning purposes:
· Classroom Teachers: While your grade level is enjoying their presentation, you may enjoy your plan time. The specials team is providing supervision.
o Please ensure that you have reviewed assembly expectations with your class AND provided every child a bathroom break prior to their scheduled session.
· All Staff: This day has been pulled from the specials rotation in an effort to provide the unique schedule found below. Theresa has updated the rotation calendar found on the Google Drive.
· As this date is a Wednesday, please note that gifted services will be provided in the art room rather than the JCPRD classroom.
Schedule & Location
10:30-11am: Specials team prep gym and JCPRD classroom (move tables/cover supplies/technology set-up) & morning duty
11-11:40am: 4th grade (JCPRD Classroom) & 5th grade (Gym)
11:50am-12:30pm: 2nd grade (JCPRD Classroom) & 3rd grade (Gym)
12:35-1pm: Specials Lunch
1-1:40pm: Specials Plan
1:45pm-2:25pm: Kindergarten (Gym)
2:35-3:15pm: 1st grade (Gym)
3:15-3:45pm: Specials clean up gym and JCPRD classroom (move tables/uncover supplies/technology breakdown)
Please let us know if you have any questions. Thanks for your support of this special opportunity for our young learners!

Final Note - there are a couple documents we are still working on - extra programs for example - so please be patient with these items. Thanks!
