Colorado Construction Career Days Field Trip - Weds. 9/28

For students who are interested in the construction or trade fields as a career, summer job, side hustle or just want to try a backhoe, get a hard hat and experience the day out at the Penrose Center, this will be a great opportunity. Connections is sponsoring a field trip to the Southern Colorado Construction Career Days on Wednesday, September 28 from 7:45am-2:30pm. There is no fee and transportation to and from school and lunch are included. Deadline to return registration and permission forms is Tuesday, September 19 before Flex, come to Connections for details.

The Coalition for College offers a wide variety of resources. These upcoming classes help in the college application and financial aid process.

Scholarships and Other Financial Aid

Washington University has expanded its "no-loan" financial aid policy for all undergraduate students effective fall 2024.


Wichita State University has published their Scholarships for the Class of 2024 and their Tuition Discount Programs.


Boston University offers the Trustee Scholarship for students that demonstrate exceptional leadership in their schools and communities. The scholarship covers full undergraduate tuition plus orientation and mandatory undergraduate student fees for four years. Deadline to apply is December 1.


Please let Ms. Peters know if you are applying to Davidson College, and might qualify for their hallmark scholarship award, the John M. Belk Scholarship. Click here for more information.


Williams College has converted their financial aid program into the nation’s first “all-grant” program. All students receiving financial aid will receive 100 percent of their Williams award in the form of grants that do not need to be repaid. They have eliminated loans from all financial aid awards and will no longer require students to hold work-study jobs.

The Oklahoma State University College of Arts and Sciences Department of Physics will host a Physics and Astronomy Journal Club for high school students. The club will be meeting every other week on Tuesday at 4 p.m. on Zoom starting Oct. 3. The first session will cover Quantum Teleportation. Join at this link.


Oklahoma State University’s RISE program assists students from all backgrounds, particularly those who are first-generation and low-income in their transition from high school to college. The program provides peer-mentoring, scheduled study sessions, one-on-one tutoring and opportunities to serve in leadership roles in order to provide students with the academic foundation they need to be successful in their undergraduate degree programs.
