History of Bathing Suits
Breanna Dunn
Swimwear
In the 18th Century bathing gowns were used for women, and long garments with long sleeves and long legs were used for the men.
In the 19th Century two-pieces became more popular for women.
Although it was a two-piece, it was still tightly fit and very figure hugging.
It also couldn't show arms, legs, or neck.
An Australian woman, Annette Kellerman, got arrested for wearing a bathing suit that showed her arms, legs and neck.
Slowly after that swimwear just continued to shrink altogether, and show more skin.
The first Bikini appeared after WWII.
The more baggy type of swimwear for guys wasn't popular until the 90's.
