News from 5G
November
We recently finished our personal narratives and will have a writer's celebration. Plans are to get together with the other 5th grade classes and to share what the children have been working on for the past few weeks.
As a culminating activity for Chapter 1 in our study of landforms, base group members created their own continents. On November 11 we had a gallery showing of these exotic and fun lands. The mapmakers can be very proud of their efforts. Check out their finished products here and below.
Dante, Jack, Alexis and Maggie have a sweet project to share.
What's New?
For our November BookTalk, the children will be reading historical fiction. As always, they are expected to select a "just right" book. During our last library class in October the children were encouraged to check out a book so they can get started. There are a number of books available in the classroom library as well.
In December, the children will participate in the student led conferences. We will spend time this month looking over our work from the beginning of the year and reflecting on our strengths and deciding on areas to work on.
Every student is expected to work on the Moby Max program each week at home for a minimum of 30 minutes. This is in addition to the time the student spends working on the program in school.
