TPlus Site Council
Do you know of a student, parent or family member that would be interested in joining this group? Site Council meets once a month and helps inform decisions at T Plus from a student/parent/ community perspective.
We also need a staff member to lead this group/ co-facilitate- See Jason if interested.
We encourage students to be a participate as well. We want voices from multiple perspectives on how we continue to improve our practices at Transition Plus.
Our meetings are generally the 3rd Thursday of the month that school is in session.
Project SEARCH openings at Hennepin Healthcare
Students have the opportunity to apply and interview, and potentially join the Project SEARCH group at Hennepin Healthcare this fall. There are 3 open positions.
Applications are available now -email trish.praus@mpls.k12.mn.us or stop by the work coordinator office to pick up an application. Applications are due Friday, November 8 by 4 pm.

Upon completion of Project SEARCH, students will receive individualized assistance & support in obtaining a job. Younger students may apply, but students in their final year will be given priority consideration.

Join the Paper Route
Hello Staff!
We have students who are working on employment goals. You can help these students by adding your room to the Paper Route! A student will stop by once or twice per week during 6th period to ask if you have any papers that our students can shred. If you don’t have papers, not a problem! The goal of the Paper Route is designed for students to learn employment skills, such as learning a route, following a work routine, building interpersonal skills, and finding pride in a job well done.
If you are interested in helping by joining our paper route, contact Ben Rodriguez at: benjamin.rodriguez@mpls.k12.mn.us
Hi Transition Plus! We have openings in the Scan Lab on Mondays/Wednesdays, 2nd and 5th hour. If you have a student who needs work experience, this is a great opportunity to get it in school. In Scan Lab, students digitize documents, photos, slides, and other media, as well as learn file management and do some minor adjustments to photos.
If you have students who would be interested in this opportunity, please contact Ben Rodriguez at Benjamin.Rodriguez@mpls.k12.mn.us.
PSWE
Meeting Notes:
At PSWE we discussed how it is important to make sure students are arriving on time 9:55am . As well, as students are only taking breaks that are previously scheduled with case managers/social workers and communicated with the engagement desk a head of time. We hope to prevent truancy, miscommunications, and inconsistencies, while increasing student engagement and accountability.
Below is the PSWE Mission Statement
Staff Reminders
- Please let the Traci or Melissa know if you have meetings on the day of the meeting. We can eliminate a phone call that may interrupt your class if we know what time the meeting is at. This would be really helpful to us. Thank you to those who are already doing this.
- If you know why a student is absent, please let the Melissa or Traci know. Case Managers, Social Workers, SEA's, A.E.'s, Job Coaches. Let's work together to ensure student attendance is correctly recorded when a student is absent.

Open Enrollment
2020 Open Enrollment is here!
Open Enrollment is your annual opportunity to review your benefit elections. The enrollment period has started and it closes Friday, Nov. 1st. During this time, you may add or drop coverage for eligible dependents and/or make changes to the following benefits:
- Medical
- Dental
- Vision
- Flexible Spending Accounts (Health Care and Dependent Day Care)
Changes cannot be made outside the open enrollment period unless you experience a qualified life event (i.e. change in marital status, birth, adoption, death, gain/loss of coverage, etc) in which you must notify the Benefits Dept. within 30 days of the qualified life event. If you choose not to take action, your existing coverage options will roll over into the next year with the exception of the flexible spending accounts. **Please note: Health Care and Dependent Day Care flexible spending accounts do NOT roll over AND require you to re-enroll.
By taking the time to view all your options, you will find comfort in knowing you have chosen the right plan for you and your family. Learn more by going to the Benefits intranet site. **Benefit deductions including FSA will be taken out of 20 paychecks.
Are you ready to enroll? Log into the Employee Self Service (ESS) portal. You can review your current elections and make changes for 2020. Step-by-step instructions can be found here.
Dependent Verification
If you are adding a dependent to your coverage, all supporting documentation must be submitted to the Benefits Dept. by November 30, 2019 by email to Benefits@mpls.k12.mn.us or fax to 612/668-0535.
2020 Benefits Guide
The 2020 Benefits Guide will provide you with an overview of all the benefits the District offers as well as detailed plan information, coverage options, rates and much more.
Benefit Information Sessions
We encourage employees to attend one of the many open enrollment meetings offered to learn more about the options you have for 2020. Computer labs will be available for those who need help enrolling or just access to a computer. Here is the meeting schedule.
Remember, the 2020 benefits open enrollment window closes November 1, 2019. Don’t wait until the last minute. Make your elections before Nov. 1st! Need assistance? Email questions to Benefits@mpls.k12.mn.us or contact us at 612/668-0560 prior to the deadline with any questions.
