A Note from Mrs. Kull
We are so excited to have our scholars getting back into the swing of engaging in daily learning activities. The current state of remote- at-home learning can be quite challenging, however, we are learning that as long as we are patient with ourselves and one another, things come together. We would like to say THANK YOU for your patience and grace as we have worked through systems malfunctioning and logins requiring additional, unforeseen steps. You have been AMAZING and invaluable partners!
The goals for the first two weeks of school were to get scholars as well as the supporting cast at home accustomed to the process, procedures, expectations and schedules. We are feeling pretty confident about where we are thus far. If you are still having system or login issues at this point please contact me directly at jkull@distinctiveschools.org. We would like all of our scholars to be barrier free by this week so that they can fully participate in curriculum.
Now that we are past the introductory phase of the school year and scholars are coming to learn their peers and instructors better it is important that they are encouraged to be present in each class, daily, unless of course there are health issues or other circumstances preventing their attendance. Unlike the close of last school year, grades are being counted, attendance is being taken and standard grade reporting will be in place. We want all of our scholars to continue their pathways towards success and this begins with them being present, engaged and prepared for class just as they would if this were a “regular” school year. Again, we understand if there are issues taking place with technology which prevent logging in and we are here to support in any way we can.
Here are some troubleshooting tips to support students logging in from home:
- If you have trouble logging on to Zoom with your child's school Google account information, try these steps for logging in as a guest: https://help.distinctiveschools.org/hc/en-us/articles/360053710073
- The Distinctive Schools Help Center is available if you run into any other issues. You can submit a help ticket at https://help.distinctiveschools.org
- Call the school office at (734) 379-6810 or email your child's teacher or Mrs. Kull
- You can also message us on our official Facebook page
You are a valued part of our school community. Please do not hesitate to reach out, we are happy to assist in any way that we can.
Have a good one!
Mrs. Kull

Internet Connection Tips & Tricks
Having difficulties with Internet connectivity? Here are some quick tips that can help:
Login or call your provider (e.g. AT&T, Xfinity, WOW!, etc.) and see if they are reporting issues in your area or with your specific connection. (Xfinity will tell you in your online account if they have issues with your modem)
Try power cycling your modem (unplug it, wait 15 seconds, then plug it back in).
Check to see if other devices connected to the same network have issues, if not or your device is the only one, try rebooting your device
Use a speed test to get more details on your internet connection, like at speedtest.net - our recommendation is 1.5Mbps up/down (what you can transmit/what you can receive) but you may need more if you have multiple devices running streaming services at the same time
If you are in need of a hotspot to assist with connecting, please contact Mrs. Sparks in the front office at (734) 379-6810. We have a very limited number available on a first come, first serve basis.
