Drama Festival postponed to Sunday

Due to Saturday's storm, the drama festival has been moved to Sunday, March 3

The Case High Theatre Company will host the 90th annual Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild's preliminary round of one-act play competitions. Case High will present an original play written by Case students Stephanie Baxter and Stephen Conos: Society's Beauty begins with today's obsession with physical appearance and journeys on a pathway to ultimately celebrate one's own individuality. The production is directed by Neil Jeronimo

Winter School

More than 30 students have embraced the opportunity for credit recovery in Winter School pilot program.

Winter School is a second chance for students who have failed the first semester. It is an opportunity that offers students hope that they can pass for the year, maintains the integrity of the class grade, and gives the students the skills, concepts and knowledge they need to successfully pass the second semester.

Winter School is basically Summer School moved into the Winter at the end of 1st semester.

Students pay a fee, are assigned personalized lessons of study based on what they failed (integrity) first semester, and upon successful completion of all assigned lessons (skills, concepts, knowledge), receive a 65, the lowest possible passing grade for the first semester (hope).

This is all completed using Edgenuity, an online learning forum.

Winter School will officially start on Tuesday, March 5 for all enrolled students. We will review expectations for the program, provide log in information, and talk about how students will be scheduled after school. There is a maximum of 15 students using the venue at any given time. We will identify which days your child is expected after school.

In closing: February at Joseph Case High School

I had the opportunity to visit every classroom during the month of February and celebrate how teachers build relationships with students at Joseph Case High School. To see a curation of this effort -- called #ProjectFEBulous, check out this link.

This past week, I had the great fortune to spend an entire school day, including two bus rides, with a freshman stduent. Click here for some photos and blogs from this national challenge to #shadowastudent.

Stay safe in this weekend snow storms,
