Field Park Principal's Update
July 31st, 2019
Welcome Back!
Hello Field Park Parents,
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! I hope that your family has been having a wonderful summer; outside of my precious time with my little guys (see picture, below) I have been largely here at Field Park, where things are shaping up beautifully for a smooth start to the year. It has been a delight to meet so many parents, students, and families in these past months, and I look forward to getting to know you all as we move forward! Please check out my "Playdates at the Playground" section, below, for an additional chance for us to meet and greet before we start the year!
Please take some time with this email, as there are several sections with specific "action needed" labels - be on the lookout!
Below, you'll find information on the following:
- Registration Information
- General Updates
- PTO Updates
- Info for New Families
- Kindergarten Logistics
- Playdate at the Playground - Informal Meet and Greet with Mrs. Burger
- Right at School Childcare
I am looking forward to another great school year! Our outstanding, experienced staff are ready to focus on your child(ren)'s social-emotional well-being, academic growth, and development; thank you for entrusting us to help your student(s) grow. Enjoy the remainder of the summer with your family.
If you have any questions or concerns, or if you'd like to chat and get to know each other, feel free to reach out to me at (708) 485-3394 or aburger@d101.org. Mrs. Blum will be available in the office beginning Monday, August 12; you can reach her at (708) 246-7675 or cblum@d101.org.
Sincerely,
Ashley

* Note: on 7/31/19, one parent/guardian will receive an auto-generated reminder email from PowerSchool/InfoSnap prompting you to register your child(ren). General Updates
- Grade Level Class Lists: emailed to you today (7/31/19) at 10am - the update we have all been waiting for is almost here!
- Economic Hardship: If your family is dealing with economic hardship now or during the school year, please contact me about applying for a financial waiver.
- Drivers: Please remember that you may only drive one way (north) on Howard Avenue before/after school and at the start/end of lunch (11:40 a.m. & 12:30 p.m.). In order to alleviate traffic problems, you are encouraged to drop off/pick up your child(ren) in the Ellington cul de sac behind the school. It’s faster, especially during inclement weather, and there is a sidewalk that extends from the school to the cul de sac. Please do not park your car in front of the school and then leave it. This creates congestion and may prevent a bus from pulling up to the curb. As soon as your child safely exits your vehicle, drive away carefully (please use your blinker) so other parents may drop off their child.
- Bus Schedule: Parents of grades 1-5 students have already been contacted by Mrs. Blum regarding any changes to last year’s bus schedule; please email her at cblum@d101.org if you have any new changes. New parents: please confirm any bus details with Mrs. Blum at our August 22 meeting (see "New Parents" section, below).
- Medications: Please note that medications must be delivered to school by a parent and be labeled properly. Please notify the office of any changes to your child’s health status during the year even if no medication is needed. If you have questions, please email Mrs. Joan Krillic (jkrillic@d101.org) or Mrs. Michelle Pusatera (mpusatera@d101.org), our school nurses.
- Administrative Assistants Contact Info: Please note that the wonderful Mrs. Cindy Blum will be returning to our front office this year in a part-time capacity; she will be sharing the role with the lovely Mrs. Cathy Berg, who we know and love from our lunch program. To contact our front office via email, please continue to email Mrs. Blum at cblum@d101.org -- Mrs. Berg will have access to that email account, as well, to ensure smooth communication.
- Village Well Construction Site on Hillgrove Avenue: As you have likely noticed, there is considerable construction under way from the Village on Hillgrove Avenue alongside our playground/park. I will have further updates regarding crossing safety as we get closer to the start of the year, but rest assured that we have a plan to ensure safe walking, crossing, and school access for all students.
PTO Update
- Yearbook
- Spirit Wear
- Volunteer Opportunities
- Gift Card Gallery
New Parents
