Open House Was Awesome
It was such a pleasure to welcome our students and families to the Eagles' Nest for Open House on August 24. Having our building filled with laughter and excitement again after a long summer break was outstanding. If you didn't have a chance to attend this event and haven't met your child's teacher yet, please reach out to the teacher(s) to arrange a meeting and/or join us on September 26 for Curriculum Night.

Help for Houston
Team Idlewild, let's come together and do our part to help our friends in Houston!
This Friday we will have a $1 non-uniform day for all students--your $1 will be donated to support those who have lost everything in the Hurricane Harvey disaster.
Also, please consider a donation of clothing and toiletries. We will be collecting items now through September 5. Bring your items to school and place them in the donation box in the front lobby.
Together, we can positively impact the lives of others!

Parents as Literacy Partners
Please take some time to check out "Parents as Literacy Partners" on Canvas using the link below. This resource is incredible--it's very informative and will help you support your child at home.
Once you open canvas, simply click on the letters to access information about specific reading levels. Each document includes information about the reading level, a link to sight words, questions to engage with children while reading, and a list of sample books.

Technology Sites to Use at Home
Do you ever wonder what your children can do at home to continue their education after the school day ends?
If so, below are screen shots that will show families how to help their children access the amazing sites CMS has purchased for students this year. If you do not know your child's Student ID# or password, please contact their teacher; we'd be happy to assist you with that information.
Are you wondering how you can keep your child safe in an increasingly digital world? Idlewild students recently completed a unit of study on digital citizenship, and have learned how to be responsible, respectful and safe in an online environment. There are a wealth of resources available for parents at www.commonsensemedia.org
