The Return to School

Dear TCS Parents, Faculty and Staff:

The State Superintendent, Dr. Eric Mackey, released the Roadmap to Reopening Schools on Friday, June 26. We are in the process of reviewing the roadmap provided by the state to ensure alignment with the re-opening plans we have developed in preparation for August 20, 2020.

The TCS plan provides the structure for returning all students back on August 20, 2020, in one of three ways: full-time in the classroom, staggered learning days for students or full-time distance learning.

As a parent, you have choice! While not a preferred option for every student and family, distance learning will allow students to remain enrolled in their school while learning from TCS teachers at a distance. This option will be made available for parents to decide in July and August.

Therefore, our TCS plan remains a fluid plan that is subject to change based on information and needs.

While we are excited at the prospect of having our students back on campus on August 20, there will be changes in operations and procedures to help ensure the health and safety of our students and employees. Further, the plan is dependent on state and local information regarding the number of positive COVID-19 cases we have in our local area.

At this time, your child's school has been reaching out to parents to seek the current intentions of our families. We will use this preliminary information to determine the number of TCS students who may participate in our virtual program. The TCS will provide more information on our plans in mid-July once we confirm alignment with the Alabama Roadmap and seek final guidance from local health officials.

We remain committed to high-quality teaching and learning while keeping your child's health and safety as a priority. Thanks for your patience and flexibility as we prepare to go into this school year.

Sincerely,

Mike Daria, Ed.D.

Superintendent
