SUMMARY OF ROAD TO REVOLUTION

The revolution was one of the biggest wars in U.S. history, as much as people think Great Britain could have won they didn't all thanks to the Americans hopes and strength.

LEXINGTON AND CONCORD, 1775

1.A huge army of British soldiers arrived at Lexington at dawn April 19th.
2.While the battle of Lexington went on 70 armed minutemen were waiting at concord.
3.When the British marched into concord they were frustrated because the americans hid the weapons stash.

COMMON SENSE

1.Common sense is a book made by Thomas Paine.
2.It was 47 pages long and was distributed in philadelphia in January 1776.
3.It was also published anomosly, They sold more than 500,000 copies.

DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, 1776

1.Thomas Jefferson was the main author.
2.Jefferson was also the one to list the complaints to the king. He stated he violated there rights by taxing them without their consent.
3.On July 4, 1776 the declaration of independence was finally approved.

BATTLE OF SARATOGA, 1777

1.The British were determined to win this one battle.
2.So what they did is king George had a group push through new york to cut off new England from the colonies.
3.During the journey the militia were making obstacles so they were off time when they were they used this time to surround the whole group and they had to surrender.

1. When the French and Spanish people entered the war they forced Americans to go to forge
2.About 2000 men died
3.The only battle fought was between the Americans and the winter of 1777-78

1.After Yorktown there were only little battles and the British could not afford another army
2.So they started talking about peace with Americans and Franklin had a key role in this
3.This is also when Britain finally recognized Americas power
