2021 | September Newsletter
WITH HEARTS AND MINDS, WE'RE TURNING VISION INTO ACTION
Principal's Message
Welcome Back!
I hope this newsletter finds you and your family healthy and well and enjoying these crisp and clear fall days. School starts with a shortened day on Tuesday, September 7th. Grades 1-9 will start at 8:30 and we will dismiss at 11:00. Kindergarten students will be following their gradual entry schedule, starting on Wednesday, September 8th.
Parents and caregivers will be receiving an email outlining where students will meet their teacher and a few other details for the day. Grades 1-4 will be meeting with their previous year's teacher and grades 5-9 will be meeting their new teachers and heading to their new classes. Once we have confirmed enrolment at all grade levels, we will be configuring classes with the plan to have information to parents for Wednesday.
In my June yearend newsletter message, I shared my hope that we would be starting this school year with the majority of COVID-19 restrictions behind us. As you know, this is not the case.
We will be continuing with our important hygiene practices, such as regular hand washing and respecting the space of others to limit viral transmission. Our staff and students in grades 4-9 are mandated to wear masks indoors to start this year. We are also supporting our K-3 students to wear masks if they can.
I am grateful that our school community was able to provide a healthy, engaging and fun school year for our students last year and we will continue to diligently implement health and safety protocols this year. We are looking forward to having our students return to RSS with excitement and energy!
Take Care,
Mr. D. DeRosa, Principal

Gradual Entry for Kindergarten is from Wednesday, Sept. 8th – Friday, Sept. 17th.
Students begin attending school for the full day starting on Monday, September 20th.

Bussing & Accessibility Zones - Drop Off and Pickup
Request to Parent/ Caregivers and Visitors
Our main entrance is a busy space before and after school. Busses are on a tight timeline to ensure they are meeting kids along their routes.
PLEASE DO NOT PARK in front of the school to drop off and pickup students, ESPECIALLY in the handicap accessible parking spot. A few car lengths down the street is super helpful!
Thanks for this!
RSS Needs YOU!
