Death of Romeo & Juliet

Brandy Darnaby

The feud and the family are to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet.

The feud is to blame because they were from different sides: Montague, and Capulet, they felt like they had to hate each other without getting to know the other, but once they met they fell in love. When they met they didn't know that they weren't from the same side of the feuds they just fell in love right away without getting to know much about the other. If the whole thing hadn't of of started they wouldn't have felt like they didn't have to not get to know each other and fall in love then. If the feud wasn't such a big thing I bet there would have been more peace between the people and more people like Romeo and Juliet falling in love.

My only love sprung from my only hate! Too early seen unknown, and known too late! Prodigious birth it is to me, That I must love a loathed enemy" (1.5.95-100)... "I tell thee what: get thee to church o'Thursday, or never after look me in the face: speak not, reply not..." (3.5.161-163)

When the nurse asked Romeo who Romeo was, Juliet and her were shocked that he was a Montague, they were of course doubting that they shouldn't marry because he wasn't a Capulet like her, but Juliet didn't care as long as he said he loved her. Since they were from different sides of the feud, they felt that they couldn't tell anyone because no one would approve. Instead they only told the people that they trusted most and got married behind the other people's back.

Later after they were married, Capulet her father was trying to force her to marry Paris. Of course he didn't know that she was already married, but the fact that he tried to force her to do something that she didn't want to do in the first place in why she killed herself. I bet she felt like she was unwanted and a person who can be bossed around all the time. She didn't want to feel like that and feel like she can be told what to do and who to spend the rest of her life with. Even though that is what they did back in the day, she could have been one of the people that made you chose who you want to marry now a days.

The Notebook & How to Save a Life By: The Fray

The notebook is a good movie to compare to Romeo and Juliet. It shows how two people fell I'm love at such a young age, but her parents didn't approve of her dating someone that wasn't on there level so they split apart. In Romeo and Juliet there parents didn't approve either and they ended up killing themselves in the end.

How to Save a Life By: The Fray is a good song to compare to Romeo and Juliet because they talk about how someone they knew killed themselves and he didn't know how to save them at the time. When they figured how they could have saved them they started to think of all the things that they could have done to make the person feel better about lots of other things. In Romeo and Juliet they knew that no one would approve and kept a lot secret from everyone. Since they did that, the probably couldn't hold everything in and was tired of everything and ended up killing themselves.
