Freshmen: 3rd grade Collège
Sophmore: 2nd grade Lycée
Junior: 1st grade Lycée
Senior: Terminale Lycée
What is the vacation schedule like for French Students?
The summer holiday is approximately eight weeks long
The christmas holiday is two weeks starting just before Christmas
The spring holiday is two weeks at the end of April
Do students typically receive the highest grade?
no but they usually receive a 7 8 or 9
What are the hours of a typical French school day?
Actual start and finish times will vary according to each local school:
Usually long days ending around 5 or 6 with 1 or 2 hour lunch breaks
What days of the week do French students have school?
4 days a week no school Wednesday and no school school Saturday
Students may have to go to school on off days depending on Lycée
Do French students have time for extracurricular activities? Why or why not?
French students study hard and put less of an emphasis on extracurricular activities
French Lycées do not usually offer extracurricular activities
