AIMS Web Benchmarking Day, Tuesday Dec. 10th
On Tuesday, December 10, 2019 , the WHS Assessment Team will be administering the AIMSweb Benchmark Assessment to all students in grades K-5. We expect it to take 15 minutes for each classroom.
There will be no test booklets again this year. We will just ask each student for his/her first and last name. Students can be in random order, no need to worry about that.
All testing will be done in the LRC. The LRC will be closed on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. When it is time to bring your class to the LRC, please make sure all students come with an independent reading book to read silently while they wait.
We will NOT have parent volunteers . Classroom teachers please come at your scheduled time and direct students to open tables.

Communication about Classroom Fundraising
We were recently made aware that staff members from throughout the district had started fundraisers on websites such as donorschoose.org. While we understand your intentions are to directly benefit our students, we need to be careful about engaging in this type of fundraising activity.
As a leadership team, we have been discussing this topic, with particular attention on the following challenges:
Accounting concerns
Concerns over mismanagement of funds
Two policies against it:
Policies on the fundraising websites also require working with a school administrator
Concerns over using pictures of students, directly identifying them as low-income, or using them as a method to raise funds.
I want to stress that we know those of you participating in this activity have the best intentions at heart. However, we do need to have safeguards in place while also following district policy.
With that in mind, the district is currently in the early stages of creating the Lombard District 44 Education Foundation. While you will be learning more about the foundation at the January 6th Institute Day, we want to mention it today because it will be available avenue for staff to utilize when needing funding to support different initiatives in your classrooms that support the vision of our district.
Moving forward, we ask that you please do not utilize websites such as donorschoose.org. For those of you already on it and actively engaging in a fundraiser, please contact me personally so we can work with our business office on appropriate next steps.

Lover of Life: The Simple Things
Favorite Memory of a recent school experience:
A favorite memory of mine from WHS is from this last school year when we hosted the Intermediate SPAC kiddos down to our classroom for a Halloween party. We had several different activities but it culminated in our spooky story telling in the dark and "feel the gross objects in the bags" activity. The kids' reactions to the bags were hilarious and Molly and I loved telling the spooky story. "Blooooooody eyeballs....."
Memory of My Elementary School Experience:
Honestly, it's too hard to narrow down to a singular memory. I loved my fifth grade year best. My teacher and her first cousin both taught fifth grade and their classrooms were next to each other divided by a moveable wall that was opened several times on a daily basis. I loved the co-teaching and all the projects we did with the other fifth grade class. Since the teachers were so close it felt like we really got to know them as real people, all of their banter, shared stories, and just understanding of one another. I just loved the projects, both academic and art-related, playing in band and the friendships I made in fifth grade. A few of my closest friends in life are friends I made that year!
Three Words That Describe Me:
silly, honest, kind
Bucket List:
Learn how to play the piano
What is your hidden talent?
Counselor to all my family and friends
What advice would you give to someone just starting off their career in education?
Be yourself. Do the best YOU can do! Love your students! Work hard, but make sure to take time for yourself too!! Finding balance and having fun is imperative! What is the last joke that you recall?
"Guess what?" Chicken butt. It's a current favorite in our family
Best Concert Experience
