Specialty Fair
The students have worked very hard on their animal project since August, please come next Friday from 2:00-3:15 to enjoy the research.
On Monday a page will be coming home about drop off/set up procedures for students. The fair is an open house type setting so you can come anytime during that hour and fifteen minutes. Students will need to bring their board, binder, and anything else they would like for their display. Please know that they will have a little more than the size of a desk for their items. All of the items will be going home that day as well.
The students' power points will be on the classroom screen for you to watch. They will all be linked together so that you can enjoy them all. Parents are also welcome to visit other third grade classrooms too. If you still have any questions, after reading the paper coming home on Monday, please don't hesitate to ask.
Words Their Way
Literacy
Reading- This week we worked on nonfiction text and analyzing details. Next week we will discuss sequence.
Grammar- We have started adjectives, or purple words. These are so much fun to use in our writing.
Writing- We are writing a holiday/specialty themed persuasive writing that will be hanging in the hallway for the specialty fair. Be sure to check them out!
Math
Science/Social Studies
We have finished our Pioneer/Native American unit and will begin Simple Machines next week. This unit will take us up to winter break. They have already done a little bit of simple machines with Mr. LaPlante, we will expand upon his introductory lesson.
Students below are making log lean-to shelters out of graham crackers, icing, and pretzels during Zionsville History. Lean-to shelters were the first thing that a pioneer would build to live in while building their larger permanent structure.
