Finals are almost here. As usual, library hours will be adjusted for both finals and break. For finals, they're extended and for break, they will be shorter. Make sure to take a look at the schedule below to make your studying plans.
The library now has iPads to lend to students in addition to laptops. The process is the same for both and what you choose will depend on what works best for you.
At the end of May, we were pleased to officially welcome Dr. Deborah Bushway as our new president. Well wishes were offered from officials across the country. They are currently on display in the Historical Hallway. Read more about what's in the display and how you can see more.
Finally, we've included the usual reminder about our writing lab services and the best practices in regards to study room use during the busy periods.
Good luck studying and enjoy your upcoming break. If you choose to study during break, we will be here.

If you have any other questions about iPad or laptop use, please ask one of the librarians.
Dr. Bushway's Inauguration
Our new university president, Dr. Deborah J. Bushway, was inaugurated at a ceremony on May 31, 2019. Dr. Bushway received many gifts and letters commemorating her inauguration from other university presidents around the country. She wanted the NWHSU community to be able to see these gifts, so she asked the Library to display them in the Historical Hallway display case. We managed to squeeze in nearly every gift and letter (obviously the tree given by the faculty didn’t fit!). There’s even a book of photos from the inauguration on display, which will be available to read in the Library once it comes out of the display case. All these items will be on display until September. Please be sure to check them out!
Quiet Study & Study Rooms
Study Rooms
Study Rooms: Remember, there is a two-hour limit per person. You may sign up for additional time only after your two hours are close to being up, and no one has signed up for the room after you.
In addition, while snacks are okay in the rooms, larger meals are not. Not only does it sometimes create a mess, but the trash can stink up a room that may not be cleaned for a day or two, as is the case during holidays and weekends.
Breaks are good, so step outside, eat and go back to studying.
Just a reminder...
As people pour into the library to study for midterms, please be extra mindful of the volume of your voice. Even "normal voice" levels can sound loud.
So far, we think you've been doing a great job during the busier days, so please keep it up.
Quiet Devices
Writing Lab
If you'd like some help with that paper, please contact the writing lab.
We offer:
- Assistance in developing the format of your paper.
- Reading over your paper to make sure it flows and to catch recurring errors.
- We do not, however, fully proofread or edit your paper.
- It is best to make an appointment in advance. Drop-in hours are limited to the evenings. During the day, you may ask if anyone is available to review your writing but immediate assistance may not be possible. Email library@nwhealth.edu for further information.
