Our Mission
Turner Elementary School strives to be a model of excellence! Our academic environment of joyful learning and rigorous expectations will be balanced by a peaceful student-centered culture focused on positive interactions. We are committed to nurture self-regulated, kind, and inquisitive global citizens who are prepared for college and beyond.
Greetings Turner Family,
We hope this message finds you happy, healthy, and well-rested from the long weekend. Thank you to all families who participated in our Double Good Popcorn fundraiser. The proceeds will go toward future Rocket Events for positive behavior. Additionally, we thank you for your ongoing support in all aspects of the mission and vision of Turner. Please know we are constantly working to reflect and refine so that we may be the best we can be for our scholars, our families, and the Turner Community at large.

FAMILY ENGAGEMENT
MARCH MADNESS BEGINS
THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR FAMILIES TO ENGAGE IN AT HOME READING AND MATH ACTIVITIES WITH THEIR SCHOLARS. PLEASE SEE THE FLYER FOR MORE DETAILS.
Want to Volunteer or Chaperone?
Parents who wish to volunteer in classrooms and/or chaperone field trips must complete the DCPS Clearance process. This includes ANY field trip - parents who may drive to a field trip location and plan to only supervise their child must still complete the clearance process.
Please visit https://dcps.dc.gov/page/volunteer-our-schools to follow the steps to complete the clearance process. Once you receive a clearance letter from DCPS, please submit it to Turner's main office. Thank you!
Inclement Weather Dismissal
In the event of Inclement Weather (rain, snow, frigid temperatures) we will dismiss from inside the building.
- The gate will open at 3:15
- Walkers will be dismissed at 3:15
- Families will pick students up from the door your student uses during arrival. (If you have multiple students you can choose one door to pick them up from)
- Staff will be there to call your student down.
- Your patience is always appreciated as we ensure an efficient and safe dismissal for students
- PreK - K: Parking Lot Door
- 1st, 4th: Playground Door
- 2nd, 3rd: Stairwell B (right in front of the pavilion)
- 5th: Stairwell C (by the ECE playground)
Emergency Contact Form
The form has gone ELECTRONIC! We hope this will increase the submission rate from our families. Parents/guardians may respond by clicking this link: Turner ES Student Emergency Contact Form or using the QR code.
For families that have already submitted or will submit a paper form, the main office staff will enter your information electronically.
Early Dismissal
While early pick up stops at 2:45pm, if possible please refrain from early pick up unless it is an emergency. It disrupts the learning process and we want to ensure that our students are successful.
Immunization, Health & Dental Forms
All students must have up-to date immunization in order to attend school. If you need assistance with immunization please reach out to Ms. Lawson 202-645-3470.
Please bring all Health and Dental Forms as soon as possible. You can drop them off at the school Monday - Friday, 9:00 - 3:00.
Calling All Parents...
