UIL 4A State Marching Band Competition

Our prelims performance at the UIL 4A State Marching Competition is at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, November 9th at the Alamodome. Chaperones and load crew have already been selected for the performance. Transportation will be provided for load crew to and from the Alamodome (charter bus #4).

Check out this article about the Wolf Band attending the state competition. We are so proud of our community, and we cannot wait to represent Comal ISD and Davenport HS at the state level. It has been a team effort, and the support this season has been overwhelming from parents, community members, and our school district.

Here are some important links with information about the UIL 4A State Marching Band Competition

Region Band Auditions

Region band audition entries are due by Friday, November 11th. Students who plan on auditioning for the region band need to complete this entry form and turn in $10 in cash or check payable to Davenport HS Boosters on Thursday or Friday. The audition will be done at Davenport HS on Monday, November 28th. Students who earn a chair in the band will earn a Davenport HS Letter Jacket.

Students, please use these recordings to aid in your preparation for the audition.

Veterans Day Assembly

The Davenport High School Veteran's Day assembly is this Friday at 10 am. Only our Wind Ensemble and Battery will be performing due to limited space on stage in the auditorium. We’re honored to be able to offer this performance to the Veterans in our community who have bravely served our country. Attire for the performance is band polos and jeans.

Fredricksburg Playoff Game

Parents, please consider signing up to volunteer as a chaperone if you have already completed the CISD background check here. The sign up to volunteer is here.

We will be performing The Armed Forces Medley at halftime for Veteran's Day.

Water Donations

We are asking for one last round of water donations to get us through playoffs. Water can be delivered to the band hall after practice on Monday or Tuesday.

Canned Food Drive

We are participating in the GVTC canned food drive again this year. The band and color guard are specifically collecting boxes of stuffing. Drop off is at the band hall to Mr. Keyes. We are setting a goal that every band and color guard member donates one box of stuffing. The last day to donate is Monday, November 7th.

Winter Guard

Winter Guard season is just around the corner. We will be having two winter guards this year - a varsity winter guard and a junior varsity winter guard. Both groups will travel, compete, and pay an additional fee for the winter season. The varsity winter guard will have a costume fee of $135 on top of their fair share fee, but they will get to keep their costume. Our junior varsity winter guard will be wearing the same costume we used for marching season.

Here are some important dates for winter guard season.

  • November 14 - Winter Guard Clinic after school
  • November 17 - Winter Guard Try Outs after school
  • December 12 - Winter Guard parent meeting immediately after Holiday Concert
