Dear Team Davis,

I hope all of you are relaxing and enjoying some well-deserved time off! Summer is just about to start for Sandra, Cody, and me.

We’ve been busy getting ready for next year! The painters and custodial staff are working now, and the roof replacement is starting to be staged. As you come in to finish up your rooms in August, please be mindful of the time and expense that has gone into repairing and painting the walls. We will no longer be stapling into the walls, since we will only be painted every 4 years. Your team can purchase painters’ tape to safely hang the students’ work and other items on the walls. Also, per our most recent security inspection, all doorways will need to be cleared of bookshelves, file cabinets, etc., including the breezeways at the end of the 4th and 5th grade hallways. All bathrooms must be cleared of materials as well.

Aug 8 New to PISD teachers at Davis 8:00 AM

Aug 9, 10 New to PISD Teachers at Sockwell Center 8-4:30 PM

Aug 9 Leadership Team meeting in the Davis conference room beginning at 9:00 AM

Aug 11 All professional teaching staff return….no paraprofessionals yet! Please meet in the cafeteria at 8 a.m. for a great day of learning and planning.

Aug 12 ALL Davis staff members return to campus. We will provide a light breakfast. Fun and games planned for a short time in the afternoon.

Aug 15, 16 Professional Learning on Campus. You will have the some time to work with your grade level/department teams.

Aug 17 District Curriculum PDH at Davis 8-4 PM. Lunch on your own

Aug 18 District Curriculum PDH

K-2nd 8-11 am at Plano Centre, 12:30-3:30 pm at Davis

3rd-5th 8-11 am at Davis, 12:30-3:30 pm at Plano Centre

Aug 19 Classroom preparation 8:00 – 4:00 p.m.

The Big Event….meet and greet students! 11:30 AM-1:00 PM

Please wear the new Davis PTA shirt.

Please take a great summer or vacation photo of you and/or your family and bring it framed on August 11 to put in our display cases by the art room. Also, bring your favorite children’s book to display alongside your picture.

Sandra, Cody, and I will return on July 18, but depending on the status of the roof, we may be working from another campus. Cody and I will be in Principals’ meetings throughout the first 3 weeks, and I will be at Harvard the week of July 25. I am hopeful that you can begin working in your classrooms the week of Aug. 1, but it will be dependent on the roof status, and I cannot guarantee air conditioning until everyone returns for good on August 11. I will let everyone know via text message if the building will be available on August 1. I’m sorry we cannot allow staff in sooner, but the roof will cause a delay in cleaning and it must be finished before staff move in. If you have questions, contact Sandra at 469-752-1003.
