FitNic (A Letter From PTA)
Dear Hedgcoxe Family,
We would like to invite you to be part of the Hedgcoxe Family FitNic on October 8, 2015 at Hedgcoxe Elementary. This event will be a family event with food and fitness. We will have a wellness fair while families are taking laps to improve their health. All contributions from the event will be distributed for classroom enrichment and parent education programs, grade level field trips, youth protection/drug awareness, school assemblies, Fine Arts day, and scholarships just to name a few.
Our goal is to raise $12,000 to support our school. In order to reach our goal we need all hands on deck. We are asking for the students to ask family members and neighbors to support them in the fun run. We anticipate 25 laps or so; however, the donations must be a flat amount not per lap. Families will be running/walking from 5:45 until 6:30 on October 8th. Then we will celebrate our efforts at the “Family Picnic” with the usual fare along with some healthy additions. The Hedgcoxe Dad’s Club will be manning the grills!
Donations can be returned in the attached envelope or made online at hedgcoxepta.org. We will be keeping everyone updated on our progress and celebrating the financial milestones with special rewards for the students and teachers. All money is due by October 8th. If your company participates in any donation matching programs please let us know and we can help you with any paperwork needed.
In addition, we are looking for community sponsors so if you know a business that would like to join our wellness fair please let us know and we can send you sponsorship information.
Thank you for your consideration,
Golden LeBlanc

Homework
Spelling Pattern
10 example words have been added to help make brainstorming easier. There is now a space on the homework for your child to write their brainstormed words.
Math
There are no additional math pages for homework this week. They have several problems to complete on their math box portion of the homework.
OPTIONAL: The math activity for this week is optional, but we encourage you to try the activity if time allows. It is very helpful for children to see math being used in the real world and why it's so important. *If you do this activity please snap a picture of your child and tag us on Instagram or Twitter. We'd love to see your child working with math at home and share the pictures with others in the class.
Reading Log
This can be done several different ways. Below are some suggestions.
- Read 10 minutes, for 3 nights
- Read 5 minutes, for 6 nights
- Read 30 minutes one night
Find out what works best for your family's schedule. The log is there as a guide, not a requirement.
The activity that goes with the reading log does not have to be done for each book they read. If they read a different book every night, they can choose one book to do for the activity. There is now a place under the reading log for them to use when answering the questions.
