PAC Winter Writing Contest
2022/2023
Avalon is having a Winter Writing Contest sponsored by the Parent Advisory Council!
This writing contest will give third grade students the opportunity to prepare for the skills needed to take the upcoming OST test, which focuses heavily on writing skills, reading comprehension, and the ability to type multi-paragraph answers. But, it will also give ALL students the opportunity to practice the foundational skills of good writing needed for success in school and in the future.
Grades K-1 will participate with handwritten entries.
Grades 2-3 will participate with typed entries.
For grades 2-3, we are sharing a fun, FREE typing resource with you: www.typingclub.com.
This site offers free typing lessons which help students learn the foundations of typing. Your students can practice on this website for a few minutes each day after school or during Autumn Break/Wellness Week.
Students will turn in entries to their classroom teacher by end of day December 19, 2022. Winners will be announced after Winter Break.
WHAT IS TYPINGCLUB.COM?
TypingClub.com is an effective and fun way to learn how to type. TypingClub is (and will always be) free for students and families. It only takes a few minutes for each lesson. Students start with lesson 1 and work their way through each lesson in numerical order. Each future lesson will become unlocked after the previous one is mastered.
