The Courier will provide you with pertinent information for your grade and content area. Although some weeks are more informative than others you should try to review it regularly.

KN2K (Knows & Need to Knows)
FLEX Deadline:
Laurie sent an email stating that all FLEX must be earned by April 30th. Please be sure that you are on target to meet that deadline. If you do not have your hours by now...it's time to shift your flex collection into high gear. (Seriously, like Nascar gear). Your portfolio needs to reflect a total of 24 hours. These hours breakdown in the following way:
- 12 hours flex for 2 days at Thanksgiving
- 6 hours flex for MLK day
- 6 hours flex/pd for your June 4th trade out
Pink and Blue
You will be receiving your pink and blue student info sheets today. Please take some time to fill them out. A dissertation is not necessary but please use the forms as an opportunity to give next year's teacher some information that will help them give each learner a successful start next year. We will "create" class lists on May 16th. New to Lakeside people - please feel free to ask any questions you might have.
Convocation Shirts - FYI
Touch base with team leaders regarding the convocation shirt situation. Let me know if you don't have one of the convocation shirts from this year.
Clarity Survey:
Megan will be sending you some information and links regarding the Clarity Survey. Please give your kids (3rd - 5th) some time to complete the survey and please carve out some time to complete it your self. The survey should take about 10-15 minutes. The survey window is April 11th- 22nd. Thanks
Multicultural Spotlight
The PTO is helping organize some parents/guests to come and share a little about their culture during a 5 minute (or more but probably less) segment on Lakeside Live. As dates are shared with me I will include the info on the upcoming dates list below. Although this information doesn't require anything specific from you...it might be a great (brief) talking point to have with your class. I would also expect that our learners treat the presentations with respect and sensitivity and I would ask that you all remind them of that prior to and during the explanations. Our first speaker from Benin did an AMAZING job!
Background Checks from Brad Hunt:
I want to be sure you had all the information you needed to determine who does or does not need to have a background check completed.
The exchange of money is not the deciding factor for the requirement of a background check. Anyone coming to campus to "volunteer" in any capacity needs to have a background check run. This would include but is not limited to; anyone coming to assist in classroom , on a field trip, to help with field day, assist with the band (including working at the concession stands), any booster club that put them on the campus at any time, volunteering through the PTO's on a campus, working on a campus with student groups. This also applies to any educators friends or family that may be coming to campus to help with a class, read a book, talk about their career experiences, etc. As you can see, none of these people are being paid anything, but need a background check done.
PLEASE BE SURE YOU ARE COMMUNICATING THIS AND THAT YOU ARE FOLLOWING THIS POLICY...THANKS
