St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 4 | WEEK 4 | 5 NOVEMBER 2020
Lord,
Just as Jesus died and has risen again, so through Jesus God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep; and as in Adam all die, so also in Christ will all be brought to life.
Amen.
Message form the Principal
We have completed our School Cyclical Review and received an extremely good report on the processes that we have put in place to ensure the school continues to improve into the future.
Please keep in mind our Year 3, 4 and 6 students as they make their Sacraments over the next few weeks.
The Christmas Carol Concert will be held on Friday 4 December. It is a requirement that students from PP to Yr 6 attend, as each class will be singing a carol to families. The carol singing for all classes and should take approximately 45 minutes to an hour. The evening will begin with the Choir singing from 5:45pm and then classes from 6:00pm. Families are asked to social distance while watching the student perform. The evening will conclude around 7:00pm.
A reminder, students will finish this term on Friday 11 December. Students will start school in 2021 on Monday 1 February.
Our Year 5 students held their speeches and elections on Tuesday for the 2021 Year 6 Student Leadership roles. I would like to thank Mrs Bettell for preparing the students for their speeches. The students spoke extremely well and very confidently. The positions will be announced at the Thanksgiving Mass on December 10. Our Year 5 students are also going on their overnight camp to the Zoo next week. I know that this will be a wonderful experience that students are looking forward to.
I wish to advise families that double stream classes have been shuffled in preparation for the start of the 2021 school year. The teachers looked at a number of criteria in determining the split. This includes academic, social, friendship and gender. The school will look at family requests however, the decision as to which student goes into which class ultimately rests with the school.
The P&F AGM is being held next Tuesday November 10 at 7:00pm in Kalyara Mia. We are seeking nominations for the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.
The School Board AGM will be held on Tuesday November 10 at 7:00pm in Kalyara Mia. There have been two nominations for the two positions that were vacated.
Last Friday we celebrated World Teachers Day. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff of St Columba’s for their dedication and professionalism to the Teaching Profession,
and the care that they provide for our students.
God Bless and keep safe.

DOSCA 2020 Camp Out Payments
For privacy reasons the P&F have been unable to email the families that had paid to attend the 2020 Camp Out as stated in last week's newsletter.
Unfortunately it is not an option to hold the funds over as a credit for next year’s camp. As 2020 has been a challenging year for the P&F to raise funds we invite you to consider donating your payment to the development of the Nature Playground in the Pre-Primary. Alternatively we can issue a refund to your nominated bank account once we receive the details from you via email.
If you would like to request a refund or have any queries please email ltulett@hotmail.com by Friday 13th November.

Both teams compete in an onstage performance in the novice division of the Robocup . Students' at school had the opportunity to see both teams performance at the last assembly that also provided a good opportunity for those teams to practice in front of a crowd. We wish them all the best and, if chosen, represent the school on the Saturday in the Finals.
