Traveling Tropies
Positive Mindset
Mrs. Schmader was recognized because she does such a masterful job of diffusing situations and working towards resolution - especially while on the playground. Keep up that positive attitude, Mrs. Schmader!
Student Advocate
Mrs. Cindy Johnson
Mrs. Johnson received the recognition because she drops everything and anything to help a kid in need. No issue is too big or too small for her lend her time and a sympathetic ear. Your support is so appreciated, Mrs. Johnson!
Innovator
Mrs. Doubet received the recognition for incorporating hands on STEM activities and engineering design into her science instruction. Keep up the great learning, Mrs. Doubet!
Curriculum Award
Mrs. Hancox works hard to help everyone reach the curriculum and understands that sometimes the most important lessons that need taught are not included in the curriculum and that we need to look for those teachable moments to get that done.
What Great Teachers Do Differently
In the book there is a chapter titled, "Put Yourself in Their Position." This section made me think of Lynnette because she is always so patient and compassionate with her students. Her day is jam packed with students from every grade level, yet she still gains such a valuable rapport with all of her students.
"Most teachers come to realize that students bring the world into their classrooms. Our schools serve English language learners, children who live in foster homes, students with special needs... Effective teachers embrace these challenges. Great teachers see the world the way each student does. This does not mean that we let go of our expectations."
Whitaker, pages 58-59, What Great Teachers Do Differently
Professional Accomplishments
Mrs. Shelly McPherson
I just completed 2 online classes to help enhance my reading strategies. The first was The Daily 5 and the second was Reading Foundations for Emergent and Early Readers. It was nice to be reassured that I have been doing great things and it was a great refresher to give me a few new ideas to incorporate.
