September 5-12, 2021

Good Evening Patriots,

Here are your School announcements for the week of September 5-12, 2021

Our school will be closed tomorrow, September 6, for the Labor Day Holiday.

Effective in the 2020-2021 school year, two doses of meningococcal conjugate vaccine are required for North Carolina students. One dose is required for individuals entering the seventh grade or by 12 years of age. The second booster dose is required for individuals entering the 12th grade or 17 years of age, whichever comes first. Please turn in your shot record to the school office as soon as possible. The deadline is September 21, 2021. If you have questions regarding this new requirement, please feel free to contact our school nurse, Mrs. Kimberly Garner.

The P SAT will be given at Providence Grove High School on Wednesday, October 13. The Preliminary SAT, also known as the P SAT/NMSQT® (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test), is a practice version of the SAT exam. You can only take the P SAT once per year, and many students take the test in both 10th and 11th grade. However, if you earn a high score on the P SAT your junior year, you could qualify to receive a National Merit Scholarship—$180 million in merit scholarships are awarded to students each year. The PSAT is 2 hours and 45 minutes long and tests your reading, writing, and math skills. From September 7 through September 15, Mrs. Donna Brown will be in the cafeteria during lunches to sign up students to take the P SAT. Please contact her if you have questions.

Parents, please complete the RCSS Back to School Survey. Parents can access the survey from the RCSS webpage.

Students who signed up for the buses after July 31 will need alternate transportation until they are assigned to a bus.

If you are 15 years old or will be on or before March 8, 2022, or if you were born on or before March 8, 2007, you are eligible to register for the September 8, 2021, in-person Drivers Ed class.

Yearbooks are on sale RIGHT NOW for $60, including extras, plus tax until September 17th, then the price will continue to rise monthly.
