McGovern News
November 1, 2018
It is exciting and amazing to see how much growth our students have made in only 8 short weeks! Students have really settled into routines and there is impressive learning taking place in each classroom.
We had a very successful book fair and the energy around the sale spread throughout the building. A special thanks to Mrs. Berset who organized the event and Mrs. Esposito who supported students during their library time to select books. I would also like to thank all of you, the families, who supported the fair by either coming to school to shop with your child/children or sent in money. It is such a great opportunity to help build your at home libraries and share the love of reading with your children.
In addition, thank you to the families who were able to attend our recent T.H.R.I.V.E event on Responsive Classroom. Please see below for more information.
Finally, it is hard to believe that yesterday marked the end of an almost 30 year career at McGovern School for Mrs. Berset. She will be missed by everyone in the Medway Public Schools and we wish her well in her next adventure!
Staffing Updates!
Administrative Assistant- Please welcome Mrs. Laurie Sameski as our Administrative Assistant. She will be filling in until we identify a permanent replacement.
EL Teacher- Jacqui Rutowicz, our EL and Reading Support Teacher, will not return for the remainder of the year. We will post for a long term sub and work with the district to identify a candidate. In the meantime, we will have a substitute teacher in place. I will inform you as we move forward in this process.
Library- Mrs. Freeman, our library/media specialist recently resigned from her position. Mrs. Freeman and Mrs. Christy Esposito, the library paraprofessional worked opposite weeks of each other between McGovern and Memorial School. We are working with the district to fill the position and will update you once we have identified a replacement. We are happy to announce that Mrs. Christy Esposito, the library paraprofessional will remain each week at McGovern until further notice.

Please feel free to send in your items and the preschool classes will sort, organize and deliver to the food pantry.
Many thanks,

Captain Tom showed students what firefighters look like with all of their gear on. They reminded students that firefighters are there to help and to not be afraid of them, even with all of their equipment on.

Nurse's Notes
No child in Massachusetts should be without health insurance. Massachusetts offers free or low-cost health and dental insurance for school age children. Affordable health insurance plans are also available for adults. These programs can help cover costs for check-ups, prescription drugs, emergency care, and other medical services.
Applying for state health insurance programs is easy. If you or anyone in your family needs health insurance, I encourage you to call 1-800-841-2900. Please take advantage of this offer so that your child will have protection should they require medical care.
Thank you.
