Interested in Western Michigan University?

We just announced the greatest expansion of scholarships in the history of Western Michigan University. Next fall, we will award 1,350 scholarships to students across a wide spectrum of financial need. And, it's all backed by the largest gift for any public college or university in U.S. history!

Here's what we're doing:

The Bronco Promise
Western is committed to opening the doors to higher education for all students who have the talent and determination to succeed. The Bronco Promise provides a tuition-free Western education for up to five years for first-year students who come from Michigan families earning an adjusted gross income (AGI) of $50,000 or less and who have net assets under $50,000.

Empowering Futures Housing Scholarship
Housing costs can be the deciding factor in affording or choosing a college. The Empowering Futures Housing Scholarship will provide up to $6,000 in housing and dining funds to eligible first-year and transfer students for their first year. Participants will live in a new Living Learning Community designed to create belonging and provide enhanced career exploration, community engagement, study skills and campus life.

Applications will open in early January and are due by Feb. 15, 2022; decisions will be released in March.

Empowering Exploration
We're the kind of community that's thinking about your entire college experience. After a few semesters, students will be ready for internships. These opportunities are critical to learning and getting resume-worthy experience. In fact, we think they are so important, we're making new paid internships available. These opportunities will help working students maintain their income while pursuing a meaningful career—even before graduation.

LEARN MORE

To be eligible for these awards—and many other opportunities at WMU—we encourage students to apply through Common App* by Dec. 15, our Early Action deadline for admission to all academic programs, admissions scholarship consideration and priority invitation to the Lee Honors College.

This is such a great time to be at WMU. We're opening a new student center, we have a historic gift and we just had the greatest expansion of scholarships ever. Oh, and we're playing Nevada in the Quick Lane Bowl on Dec. 27 at Ford Field. I'll see you there!
