Mrs. Bellan's Update
I hope everyone is having a great Spring Break. Quite untraditional; however, we are making the best of it. I have never played so many games of Monopoly!
Know that the staff miss the kids so much. I have been hearing from teachers daily checking in about innovative ways they can connect with your students in ways that will be meaningful.
Technology/Chromebooks
If there are any families that do not have access to a computer who may benefit from one during the duration of this closure, we will have a second round of Chromebook distribution organized by Sean Whealen, Director of Technology and Operations. In order to ensure that we have enough for everyone we need, we are able to give one loaner device to families who do not have a device at home. If your child is now in need, please complete this form:

Teaching Online
As we begin moving to online instruction, please know that we understand that every's families circumstances during this most challenging time look different. Therefore, we have discussed that the school work we will be sending will focus on the power standards and it is our intention not to bog anyone down with busywork. Know that if you are your child is overwhelmed, frustrated or unable to do the work advised, please let the teacher know so we can be of support. Our number one objective is healthy kids who feel safe and connected during this time. Additionally, if your child is soaring and needs more, please let our teachers know so more ideas/resources can be shared. Again, every families' needs are different so we are trying to be realistic, sensitive, and also effective.
Social-Emotional:
Mrs. Zannetti listed a few resources on how to talk to your child about COVID-19. Another resource can be found here: https://www.pbs.org/parents/thrive/how-to-talk-to-your-kids-about-coronavirus
Many staff has expressed interest in helping support families during this time of need. Mrs. Berardinelli, our school nurse, is one of those staff members who is eager to support your family. If your child is down and needs to hear a caring voice, she is willing to help. You can reach her at lisa.berardinelli@westg.org
Lastly, I hope each of you stays well. Please reach out to let us know what you need. We are here to navigate this together.
Best,
Meagan Bellan
