Book Fair Thank You!!!
All the money that is raised comes right back here to you...my amazing students and staff! Teacher book wishes were granted and I am planning on a big book giveaway before we go on Winter Break. Stay tuned for more details.
And the winner is...
I also spun the wheel to offer 5 $100 gift certificates to shop in the Scholastic Dollars Catalog. If you are the lucky winners, please see me the week of Nov. 13 to shop the catalog.
Congratulations to all the winners!!
Overdue/Lost Books
Please reassure your students that they are not in trouble. Mrs. Woo and I just want them to be aware of what is currently checked out to them. If they have any issues or concerns, please send them to the library to speak with one of us.
Lost Books
Every so often a student loses a book. This is unfortunate, but does happen. Mrs. Woo and I will ask the student about the book and let them know how much the book cost. We will also staple the paper into their planner so the adults at home are aware that a library book is currently listed as lost.
We also understand that some students may not be able to replace the book(s) that they lose. If students are not able to pay for their lost books, we do have two other ways they can pay off their fine.
Recess work - They can spend some time in the library doing odd jobs for Mrs. Woo and myself. For every day of work, $5.00 is removed from the total until it is paid off.
Read it off - They can spend time in the library reading silently or reading to me. For every day they come in, $5.00 is removed from the total until it is paid off.
Staff Reading Survey
I am currently asking students in all homerooms to participate in a reading survey during their library class. Once I am done I will be sharing the results with you in next month's newsletter. I am planning on using this information to create new activities for the students as well as purchase the books they want to see in the library.
In addition to surveying the students I wanted to survey you to see how you feel about reading and brainstorm ways to help you support reading in the classroom. Please take this survey at your earliest convenience. Thank you for all you do to support reading here at MPES!
