Greetings
I have been working in education for the past twenty-five years, and this last day of school I never would have envisioned. There simply is no substitute for in-person learning, and the way our schools typically operate. The dynamic interactions and relationships have always been valuable to us, but through this experience, I think we all can agree that they are even more precious and extraordinary than we realized.
Equally remarkable has been the dedication and commitment from all North Street staff members during this time. They took on the challenge of learning how to teach an entirely new way largely on their own, from their own homes, while balancing the needs of their own families. They leaned on one another to learn new technology, try new activities, become comfortable with leaving a digital footprint, and help students and parents alike login, access assignments, and teach new skills. They reached out to families again and again to make sure students were getting what they need, and made sure their charges knew how much they cared about them. Teachers are essential workers, front line responders, and worthy of the utmost respect and honor.
I have said it before but it bears repetition - without your partnership, we can only go so far. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for hanging in there, helping your child settle down to learn, teaching your child skills, not giving up when technology failed, and being your child's first and best teacher each and every day. And to the PAC, whose endless positivity and outreach never failed to support staff and families - I appreciate you all.
Now comes the summer....a time to rejuvenate and rest. I hope you enjoy yourselves with the slower pace and beautiful weather. I wish you all the very best, and to stay in good health.
Be well,
Karen

Step-Up Day & Welcome to North Street meetings
Another one of my favorite nights is the Incoming Third Grade Parent Night. This gave us an opportunity to share a bit about our school, our routines, new practices, and allowed you to start to put some faces to names. I am still committed to having this meeting. At June's PAC meeting, the members advised me to hold until August. I will be in touch with details over the summer about when, and where (either in-person or virtually). Stay tuned!
